I am honoured to be running the London Marathon next year for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. 

When we are told in September that Theo had immense amounts of fluid on the brain, a condition called hydrocephalus caused by a low grade brain tumour called a Tectal Glioma, It was devastating news. We were taken that same day to GOSH by ambulance and taken to the high dependency bay on Koala Ward which is the neurosurgery Ward. From the moment we arrived, albeit very scary, I knew we were in safe hands. From the consultants, nurses, play staff and catering team, everyone has the children’s best interests at heart.

Theo had brain surgery the day after we arrived at GOSH which meant that the fluid in his brain can now drain properly again, and he had a reservoir fitted to monitor the pressure. The preparation for surgery and aftercare was brilliant, and I cannot thank GOSH enough. Theo is recovering well from the surgery, he is a remarkable young boy, so brave and brilliant and we are so proud of him! We are now under active monitoring and have months and years of appointments, MRIs and scary things to come, but I really wanted to do something positive to raise a lot of money for the wonderful hospital which helps so many children with complexed illnesses. They really make a sad and scary time so much easier.
