My nephew Zach was born with Truncus Arteriosus, a condition where there is just one large blood vessle instead of two sepearte vessles leaving the pumping chambers (ventricles) of the heart. His condition was not picked up until after he was born and he underwent serious heart surgery at just 6 weeks old.
Truncus Arteriosus is a form of congential heart disease- a term used to describe a problem with the heart's structure and function due to abnormal development before birth.
Zach has a cows neck vein (conduit) in his heart to do the job of his pulmonary artery and is likely to need another 4 surgeries in his life to replace the conduit as he grows. Therefore I am trying to raise money for the British Heart Foundation so they can continue there research in order to help children like Zach. Please donate. xxxx
