I've been lucky enough to take part in one of the Guiding Overseas Linked with Development (GOLD) projects 2020. The project shall be in Aruba  & will be the 5th / final year. 

From joining campaigns to end violence against women & girls in Malawi, to encouraging young leaders in Latvia – GOLD empowers young women to work in partnership with other guide associations around the world. 

GOLD has been working with member countries of the World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) for nearly 29 years. Past projects have travelled to 41+ countries & each 3-week project is tailored to the local needs of the host country, to provide community or guiding based development projects. These sustainable projects range from leadership skills training to delivering advocacy programmes to young women & make sure that the positive impacts of GOLD are still felt after everyone has gone home – so they make a real lasting difference!

Myself & 5 other GirlGuide members will aim to accomplish 4 objectives:

• Boosting the leadership skills & self-esteem of women on the island
• Recruiting more adult members 
• Training new & existing leaders & Guides on leadership, managing a unit, Guiding values, communication, WAGGGS & training techniques 
• Growing the youth membership
