London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running the London 2019 Marathon for Crohn's and colitis in memory of my much loved and missed brother - Luke Simonds.
Luke was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2010 after suffering with symptoms for months and ending up in intensive car. It was a struggle trying to manage his condition, he seemed to be constantly 'flaring up'. He spent many days in agony with stomach cramps, muscle pain, and nausea. Despite being dosed up on numerous medications, all of which had their own side effects that he had to battle through too.
Unfortunately this is the case for over 200,000 people in the UK. Crohn's and Colitis UK work with all of those affected by Inflammatory Bowl Disease to provide information and support to achieve a better quality of life. They also work alongside the health sector to improve diagnosis, treatment, and management of the IBD. As well as support life-changing research to increase knowledge of the causes and the best treatments, and vigorously campaigning to find a cure.
Sadly Luke passed away on January 2nd 2013, at just 24 years old. So I am running the marathon in memory of him and to raise money to fund research that will one day bring an end to this dreadful illness.
I would be extremely grateful if you could help me with this task by sponsoring me.
