Donations in memory of Horace Willetts

Thank you for visiting this page.
We are collecting for Action Heart because as you know cardiac disease and it’s effects are something we have experienced as a family. My dad was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation and Heart Failure in 2007. Dad continued to lead a full and active life until the September of 2021 when we learned he needed major heart surgery (“the biggest you can have other than a transplant” according to the surgeon). This surgery took place in January 2022 and gave my dad a second chance at life and he grabbed it with both hands. He did all his medical team asked of him, walking daily, further and further each time and recovered well. We were starting to plan the next phase of our lives together as a family. Unfortunately that second chance at life turned out to be shorter than any of us expected and in July 2022 he developed endocarditis- an infection that unfortunately attacked his new and repaired heart valves and caused him to have strokes and other complications and after 6 days of intensive treatment by the amazing staff of the Emergency dept and C8 Ward at Russell’s Hall he could take no more and he died on July 14th.
We chose Action Heart for donations as they do amazing work supporting people with cardiac disease in Dudley. We want to make sure that this support continues to be there in future for everyone that needs it.
Thank you
