Story

The Coldstream Regiment saw extensive service in the Napoleonic Wars. It served as part of the 2nd Guards Brigade at Chateau d'Hougoumont. This defence is considered one of the greatest achievements of the regiment. Cpl James Graham and Lt-Col James Macdonnell shut the North Gate after a French attack.[5] Wellesley himself declared  "the success of the battle turned upon closing the gates at Hougoumont".[6]
