Story

As some of you will know, I have crap blood (technical term) and progression with it is painstakingly slow, as most know I lose concentration fairly quickly and get distracted by other things- namely shiny objects because my inner magpie doesn't like to be repressed hahaha. Thus, my current stagnated situation is tantamount to torture. So, I put my thinking cap on around NY’s and was typically Hibbs like with “new year, new me” b/s, deciding as pas can’t do much for me, I’d do something for them- to hopefully aid others in a similar situation.

But, it was never going to be as straightforward as that because, well, I'm Scarlett...

We all know I'm slightly, a little bit... OK- really, competitive. And we all know I love a good challenge. I could also spend days dreaming because I like bed and I have the imagination of an excitable 5 year old. Hitherto, my thinking cap quickly evolved into me prancing around a hat shop. I, contemplated snap backing up- unleashing some slick break dancing moves, flirted with the idea of hard hat'ing up via climbing up a rock, even mulled over the idea of bobble hat'ing up to go skiing- but I'd likely break my leg, let's be honest. And, probably more importantly, I've never really had a head for hats :( Possible contemplation lead to serious consideration and I realised I should probably do something I'm good at;

Running? But most do that for charity, and as you all know, if most do, I don’t really want to.

Skipping? I do skip, but come on guys- a sponsored skip?! I'm not a child (as much as that upsets me).

Swimming? 13 year old me, was pretty awesome at swimming.

So being Scarlett and with no real sense of time because in my head that feels like yesterday, I've decided to don a swimming cap and do a sponsored swim. And not any old sponsored swim either, nothing like the ones we all did when we were about 8 with our schools- I think BIG. Hence, I'm swimming the channel (insert girl with hand outstretched emoji here*), 22 miles. For those that can't do the math, and because it sounds even more impressive, that's 1408 laps of a 25m pool, which subsequently equates to 704 lengths of 50m pool. When am I taking the plunge? September because I need time to train for this feat. I'm unsure if I'm going to do it timed- I guess I'll see how my training goes, tread water etc.Feel free to make puns, I do love a good pun, and donate :)

Here’s hoping I don’t sink and, that I make some money so that pas can splash out and invest in research.

An ever optimistic Scarlett,

x
