Dear Friends
and Family,
It
is now nearly 5 years since I had my accident and I have been overwhelmed by
all the support I have received since 26th May 2005.
Following
life threatening brain trauma and subsequent brain surgery I have been left
with a retinal stammer, partial deafness, and no sense of smell (this can be a
good thing!), I am still unable to swallow and therefore continue to receive
food and water through my stomach PEG (No dinners for me!).
I
want to show my gratitude to the excellent team at The Queens Medical Centre,
Nottingham, who saved my life on more than one occasion. Especially to Mr Paul
Byrne, the surgeon who undertook the emergency brain surgery I needed. I am
therefore competing in the 5km Chippenham River Run on 14th July
2010 to raise money for Nottingham University Hospitals ‘Brain Trauma Fund’.
Having
had to learn to walk again and with on-going balancing issues, my brothers Gary
and Sam will be escorting me to the finishing line!!!!
To
this end I am looking for sponsorship and any help with contributions you feel
able to make will be most gratefully received.
Thank
you and best wishes,
Hugh
