As most of you will know I feel passionately about animal rights - the voiceless who need our support.  But there are many human beings all over the world who are also appalling treated and whose human rights are abused.

Whether I have it in me to run the 26.2 miles remains to be seen, but at least I will know that all the hard work and pain is for a good cause, and that my suffering will be nothing compared to the abuses that many people have to endure because they disagree with the views of those in power. Their right to free speech has been met with imprisonment and torture.

In short, Amnesty's most important achievements can be measured in human lives- lives saved, prisoners released, threats averted

In 2006 Nelson Mandela said 'Like Amnesty International, I have been struggling for justice and human rights for long years....But as long as injustice and inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest'
