We help our trusted grassroots partners to improve the lives of refugees in Europe

Story

Aslamualaikum/Hello

This fundraising page is raising funds to support the work of Refugee Biriyani & Bananas (RBB), a grassroots organisation I founded with my friends in 2015 after we went on a aid delivery convoy to Calais and Dunkirk unofficial camps in France.

We support vulnerable people worldwide by providing the following support:

  • Emergency aid and basic necessities.
  • Mass aid distributions.
  • Morale boosting activities and inclusion of those we are supporting in aid preparation and distributions.
  • Advocacy for people facing displacement.
  • A strong send of community within our team.

As well as providing aid it is our mission to raise awareness on the situations faced by those we are helping as well as telling their stories and journey accounts, aiming to garner increased support from them as well as promoting positive social changes in the world we live in.

Our current base of operations is the Greek Island of Chios. Your donations will go towards helping displaced people and those living in the refugee camp of Chios to provide: Food, Drink, Shelter, Clothes, Shoes, Hygiene Products, Medical Aid and Baby Items.

Chios is one of the hotspots where people arrive risking there lives to travel on flimsy boats from Turkey - fleeing war, terror and oppression from countries such as Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, Pakistan as well as East, West and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The situation for refugees in Greece and Turkey has dramatically escalated over the past few months, following the announcement that Turkey would no longer stop people trying to cross their borders into Greece and Bulgaria .

Further more Corona Virus Pandemic has meant that people from camp are sending out distress calls for vital aid supplies due to lock down and those at already increased risk are at further risk due to the inhumane living conditions.

How can they stay at home when they have no home? How can they wash their hands when there is not enough soap or clean, running water?

These actions all have had a domino effect on the Greek Island of Chios where I am currently on a three year career break providing humanitarian aid and relief where conditions are likened to:

- Devastating
- Catastrophic
- A Humanitarian Crisis
- Hunger
- Death
- Disease

Almost 6000 people are living in tents and make shift shelters and some without even this. Infections, macerated trench foot, malnutrition, suicidal ideations are just some of the common negative consequences in this refugee camp where the most vulnerable including, elderly, disabled, sick, children and babies are forced to live.

This is a man made humanitarian crisis. Our wars, our greed, our discrimination and our borders are destroying humanity.

These are our brothers and sisters suffering in refugee camps and it is our duty to support.

Zakat, Sadqah and Lillah accepted.
Please post a comment or message us separately if you are contributing Zakat so that it can be used accordingly.

100% of what you donate will go direct towards the aid distributions on the ground.

JazakAllah Khairan/ Thank You
