ME Research UK is a Perth based charity.  It is a well run and highly successful organisation.  Over the last 14 years it has provided over a million pounds to projects which have produced 55 peer reviewed research papers in scientific journals, adding to the world-wide knowledge base.  Sadly a cure is not yet in sight but scientists now know a lot about this illness and especially the physical reality of its horrible symptoms.

I hope to walk up Beinn Sgulaird in a record time for a 70 year old on 9 August 2014.  In preparation for that I am walking as often as possible and have walked the 7 Munros in the Lawers range (north of Loch Tay) in one day from Glen Lyon using one car and a bike.  On Sgulaird I will be accompanied by Gerry McPartlin who holds the record for the fastest round of all the Munros by a pensioner (he did it in 88 days!).

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.
