Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Stuart, a local surgeon and keen angler, has reached that stage in life where he needs a challenge to prove to himself that he's not getting left behind. Once a keen paddler, Stuart decided that Kayaking around the Isle of Wight was a worthy challenge, all he needed was to find someone else (and two kayaks etc) to inflict this challenge upon. Looking around his colleagues and friends Stuart decided that Iain was right for the task having the physical potential to make the distance and being sufficiently young enough to prove to everyone that Stuart is still able to keep up. Those that know him recognise that Stuart is not your average guy, always busy with his wife and twin daughters, his work and fishing, to name a few of the demands on his time, as an above the knee amputee he takes life in his stride. It was therefore easy for Iain to suggest that to enhance the challenge the two of them should also cycle around the island.
The paddle is approximately 65 miles and will take place over 1 or 2 days as it is subject the weather and the tides.
The bike ride is about 60 miles and is quite hilly but is not so weather dependant so will be fitted in around the paddle.
We have set aside a 9 day window to complete the challenge between the 16th and 24th of August 2014
