Story
Thanks for stopping by. I’m aiming to walk 100km through the Sahara in 30 degrees of heat in March 2007. That’s approximately 7 hours a day. I’m doing this to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation. I’ve been motivated by my father, who is poorly with vascular dementia, and by my dear mother who is his carer. They are typical of hundreds of thousands of older folk for whom life has turned into something of a tightrope act. Despite the very best intentions of services resources are scarce and for many, this can be a frightening and lonely stage in life. Please help me support the Mental Health Foundation to support the mental health of people like my mum and dad – one day, any one of us might be grateful.
I’d appreciate any amount but here are some ideas:
Toddler crawl @ 1p per km £1
Gentle meander @ 5p per km £5
Gradual stroll @ 10p per km £10
Purposeful walk @ 20p per km £20
Eager yomp @ 40p per km £40
Mad dash @ £1 per km (short bursts only and a minimum of 4 players) £100
Your name in Sahara sand with digital photograph e-mailed £50
THANK YOU
