Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

We’re leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. We’re here to make sure children and young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. Join our fight.

Story

I am running the London Marathon (my first ever and may be last ever!) to raise money for YoungMinds.

YoungMinds is the UK's leading charity committed to improving the emotional well being and mental health of children and young people and empowering their families and carers. Particular work they undertake includes:

*Participation work with young people who have experienced mental health problems
*Parent helpline and online forum
*Training and outreach service in schools

£10 can help pay for young volunteers working locally to reduce the stigma of ill mental health
£25 can help a distressed parent who rings the Parents' Helpline
£50 can support YoungMinds' mental health training for teachers and healthcare professionals
£100 can support young people who have suffered from mental illness to help other young people suffering from ill mental health
