Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving Page.
This September, Nigel and I will be walking the Camino de Santiago. The Pilgrimage Way of St James from France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain is some
480 miles long and has been in use for over 1000 years !
The walk will take 32 days from start to finish and will start in St Jean Pied de Port in France crossing the Pyrenees into Spain and walking the breadth of northern Spain to the Atlantic coast.
So why are we taking on this epic walk??
We love long distance walking, but this is about so much more! We want to raise support for and awareness of Christians who face persecution because of their faith. We are choosing to do this walk and have planned for it, but many thousands of Christians across the world from Nigeria to Iraq have had to flee their homes with few or no possessions and have had to walk vast distances to find a place of safety for them and their families. Many have faced threats and violence.
We want to raise funds to support the work of Open Doors, a ministry that supports the persecuted church across the world. Open Doors supplies Bibles, emergency support, literacy programmes, livelihood support and advocacy.
We pray that this walk will result in others making a long term commitment to support the persecuted church.
Thank you for your support
