On my 9th birthday I completed my first Triple Challenge by completing the English Coast to Coast walk 3 times (3 x 192 miles in 20 months). I raised some money for the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and my school along the way so I thought that I would come up with another exciting challenge!
I have decided to do this challenge for the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team (PMRT) so all money raised will go directly to them. But this is the brilliant bit...
My Dads hotel, which the Old Water View in Patterdale - will match the amount donated by you to the PMRT and give that exact amount - including Gift Aiding it, to Patterdale School up to a maximum of £5000 + Gift Aid - so every donation that is made to PMRT will double up and two charities will benefit!!
CHALLENGE ONE - 8 Days hiking along the Hadrian's Wall Path.
In April, I will have my 11th birthday so I am going to walk along Hadrian's Wall which is a coast to coast walk along the old Roman border between England and Scotland, a distance of 85 miles. A big Thank You to the team at Macs Adventures of Glasgow for sponsoring my accommodation along the way.
CHALLENGE TWO - 8 Days hiking the Lava Fields, Glaciers, Waterfalls and Geysers.
In August, I am going to trek in Iceland along the Thingvellir National Park (A UNESCO Word Heritage Site), Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Skaftafell National Park, Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon and Hveragerdi.
Now if those names all sound confusing to you... Think of me trying to map read! The Iceland trip is also with support from Macs Adventures.
CHALLENGE THREE - 8 Days hiking in Annapurna (Himalaya's).
In October, I travel to Kathmandu and then fly on to Pokhara for a trip in the Annapurna region. I will be with Mountain Monarch Travel of Kathmandu who are putting on this trip especially for me as the only trekker (well my dad too!) and I will have my own guide and Sherpa!
A BIG Thank You to everyone who has helped me plan this....
Now I just have to walk!!!
P.S. Please donate to help Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team - they are amazing people giving their time for free and I am giving up 28 days of my school holidays to complete this Triple Challenge.
Love
Rachael xx :)
