It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you are aware, on Sunday the 12th of April 2020 we lost my Dad Ian.

Ian had endured a tough 18 month battle with cancer and had fought it all the way. He had been admitted to hospital and underwent successful surgery. Unfortunately, 10 days later my mum and I were called into the hospital and Ian passed away due to unexpected post op complications. In the period between the operation and his passing, Ian was in high spirits- this was something that really defined him.

Ian was the most helpful, gentle and hilarious person. It was these brilliant qualities which made him such a well thought of colleague in his times working in biochemistry at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Ian spent many years working in the labs and it was a big part of his life. He then went on to work for Perkin Elmer where he was regarded as an expert in his field and became a treasured member of the Perkin Elmer family. These attributes combined with his genuine care for others and commitment to his job was an inspiration to us all. Even during his times 'on the sick,' as he used to call it, he was determined to get back to work. This again showed his commitment and positive energy.

We would like to thank all of Ian's family, friends and colleagues for the positive impacts that you have had on his life. Any donations to this special charity would be appreciated by us and would be a great to honour to Ian's memory.
