Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Gambia is the first African country I had visited and by far the nicest people I have ever met! I have travelled to a lot of places and experienced a lot of things, but nothing could prepare me for my time in the Gambia.
I love football plus I coach/ manage a youth football team in England so I was curious about the football development in Gambia. A friend who I met in Gambia (Alex) took me to KGH Football Club where I met Yayha Menneh (an enthusiastic coach). I was amazed at how technically gifted the young players were, but I was equally appalled at the lack of equipment and playing conditions. Many kids played football bare foot and the club share 8 old footballs amongst 20+ teams!
My aim is to ship quality football equipment to the Gambia to support youth football clubs and schools all over the country, health is a massive issue out there so giving the kids of Gambia the right equipment will go towards helping out. Unfortunately the shipping costs are expensive.....................................
The aim of this challenge is to cycle the length of Gambia (East to West) 210 miles. Sorry I should have said, the challenge will be undertaken in Soho Gym Waterloo, London. I have a number of volunteers who are also participating in an attempt to reach this target. So I will be cycling a minimum of 10.5 miles and I need to raise at least £100.
Let's make this happen - Football Gambia for life!
