RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Ian William Ashley Harris, husband of Enid, and father of Judy, David, Gillian and Susie, died peacefully at Weston-Super-Mare Hospital at 7.30pm on Monday 26th December 2011.  Enid was with him at the end of this difficult illness and infirmity that he bore with fortitude and serenity.  May he rest in peace.

His funeral will be on Tuesday 10th January 2012, first at 9.30am at Weston Super Mare Crematorium, then at 2.30pm for a service of thanksgiving and commital at All Saints' Church Wrington, and afterwards at Wrington Sports Pavillion, to which all are welcome

Ian's lifelong love of the sea is remembered with a request for donations, if desired, to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Ian had been admitted to Weston Hospital on Thursday 15th December with a gastroenteritis but developed other complications.  We had all been to see him several times, with David and family visiting on Christmas Eve and Judy, Gill, Susie and grandsons Kieran and John going there from Tiverton on Christmas day to sing carols, which he heard and enjoyed immensely.
