Story

On Friday 18th October, Ickleford Squash Club will be hosting a 25 HOUR Squashathon event to raise money for the wonderful KiSS (Kiddies Support Scheme) charity 🖤💛❤️

What do KiSS do?

KiSS has been working to support communities in Uganda for 25 years and in that time, have transformed the lives of thousands of children and families in accessing and healthcare, food and basic care.

Whilst this remains KiSS's core work, their wider engagement work with the families of KiSS and working to build a better community has also enabled the development of two new Ugandan-led projects; The Agriculture Project and the Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA'S). The KiSS Uganda team and parents of KiSS are the driving force behind these two projects and are excelling the charity on to becoming more self-sufficient.

(To learn a bit more about the amazing work of the charity and to read stories of some of the families, go to https://www.kiddiessupportscheme.org/).

Why do we want to support KiSS?

The KiSS charity is of special importance to some of our members at Ickleford Squash Club and whilst KiSS has made a significant impact in Uganda over the last 25 years, there is always more that can be done. We want to help them to raise important funds whilst celebrating their journey over the last 25 years of fundraising.

We are also very passionate about Squash as a sport and are proud of the friendly and supportive community it has created at Ickleford, so to welcome new faces to the club to have fun giving the game a go, whilst also raising money for a wonderful charity, is lovely for us as a club.

How can you get involved?

There are a number of ways you can participate in the event, whether you'd like to play or not!

1. Sign up to play a session!

The event really is open to ALL!
Advanced players, beginners, members of the club, non-members,
    adults, children alike ...
We recognise that a lot of people will not have played squash before
and we want to include a variety of people, so all are welcome
regardless of ability or experience. This is a chance to try out the
game and have some fun, so as long as you bring non-marking shoes,
we can provide equipment and a bit of friendly coaching.

We have a lot of time to fill and so would welcome as many people as
    possible!

To sign up, please fill in the form at the club or get in touch at enquiries@icklefordsquash.com / 07841 532 659.

2. Donate to the raffle
If you cannot make the event but would like to contribute in another way, we would be very grateful for any raffle donations that you may be able to contribute.

3. Donate to the Bake Off
Similarly, we would be very appreciative of anyone who might be able to use their culinary Bake-Off skills to contribute a cake and give another sugary option to keep the players going for the early shifts!

4. Come and support
It would be brilliant to see as many friendly faces as possible over the 25 hours, whether that's to watch some of the games or to join in on any of the parties, or for all! We would love to welcome you all.

5. Sponsor the event
If you are not able to join us, but might perhaps be able to make a contribution towards the event, then please get in touch at enquiries@icklefordsquash.com / 07841 532 659.

Thank you very much for all of your support & donations and we cannot wait for a fantastic 25 hours of squash! 💙
