Story

Samuel tragically passed away shortly before Christmas in Switzerland.

He was a third year mathematician at Girton College, Cambridge, and a talented student. According to a fellow student,  "he will in particular be remembered for his inquisitive approach to his studies, using beautiful sketches to share his mathematical insights, especially in algebraic topology, a topic he loved greatly".

Samuel was also a keen lover of the outdoors - rock climbing, mountaineering, windsurfing - as well as a budding but gifted musician.

He was an inspiration to his friends and family.

In the summer of 2018, Sam spent two months at the Children's Peace Home in Dang, Nepal, with his girlfriend Sophie, teaching underprivileged children. It was a place he loved, and was looking forward to return to.

The Peace Home has just finished the renovation of the girls' hall, and is now in need of funds to build a hall for the boys. We (Sophie, his sisters Anna and Claire, his parents Audrey and Patrick) could think of no more fitting tribute to Sam than to raise funds for building the boys' hall. The total cost will be approximately 35,000 euro, part of which we hope to raise here.

The funds raised here will be channelled through HVP Nepal-UK to the Children's Peace Home in Dang for this project.

Thank you for your support.
