Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Mulberry Bush School is an amazing place. Kate and I would like you to understand a bit more about it and why we are fund raising for the 52 Week House which is being built there.

This is the start of Lucy's story

At the age of three Lucy was taken into care by social services. She had been discovered living in a house which was being used as a base for trading in drugs and sexual relations. As a result of living in this environment Lucy had experienced severe emotional neglect as well as physical and sexual abuse. Lucy’s behaviour had become so disturbed that she was found to be eating off the floor with several dogs which were also inhabiting the house.

Lucy went to the MBS when she was 7 and, like the other children there, she boarded for 3 years. During the holidays she stayed with foster parents, other children go home BUT some children don't have a home to go to.

And this is where you and the MBS come together. The MBS is building a 52 Week House to give a home to those children who have none - something we would find it hard to imagine. In the 52 Week House each child will have their own room for the 3 years they are at the MBS. Thus creating a stable place they can call their own.

Kate and I are playing 52 holes of golf in one day to match the 52 Week House. Please sponsor us so that we can give very needy children a place to call home.

Our target is £520 but we can dare to dream. Would £5252 be possible? The money, through your generosity, would make such a difference.

And what became of Lucy?
After three years Lucy was able to make this transition and return home to her foster parents. She is currently doing well and the placement remains stable. She is successfully placed at a local school for children with moderate learning difficulties and despite being quite demanding is no longer unfosterable nor unacceptably disruptive in

school or other social situations.

Lucy's full story, along with Danny's, can be found on the MBS website https://www.mulberrybush.org.uk

A very big thank you from
