Due to US sanctions against our country, we have lost access to all fundraising platforms and international bank accounts. As our field activities strongly depend on donations, we are trying to solve this issue as soon as possible. If you need to know more, please feel free to contact us.

Concerning international bank embargo against Iran, we are facing severe problems for fundraising, which might affect our activities adversely to save wildlife in Iran. Consequently, the ICS receives international donations through its close partner World Land Trust. WLT is a UK-based non-profit organization that is devoted to protecting the most biologically important and threatened habitats across the globe.

Currently, Iranian Cheetah Society's conservationists are working on the ground, across different areas of Iran, to save some of the most spectacular and imperiled wildlife. From the central deserts' Asiatic Cheetah territory to the high altitudes of northern Iran where massive Persian leopards roam, the ICS is making significant progress against steep odds.

Please join us in supporting critical research and monitoring programs to find conservation solutions. Moreover, you can help us in training local communities and rangers to implement conservation practices that are ensuring a long-term future for the carnivores and their ecosystems.

How are my donations used?

The following are two current examples of our successful wildlife conservation activities, which your donations help us achieve.

Cheetah Population Monitor

We are studying Asiatic Cheetah since 2001. Since 2012, we launched a country-wide Asiatic Cheetah monitoring program, by targeting some of the vital cheetah reserves in northeastern and south-central Iran. We have used remote camera trap photography to document the presence of the elusive cheetahs and to reveal the abundance and population dynamics of these fragile cheetah populations in their last stronghold. Besides, we are using camera trapping techniques to explore the connectivity of these seemingly isolated cheetah patches. Our country-scale cheetah program has so far provided invaluable information about the movement, reproduction, and population size of the Asiatic cheetahs. Which can form the basis for developing an updated conservation planning of the subspecies in collaboration with the Iran government and other active NGOs.

Rangers Program

Increasing motivation and promoting conservation efforts of the wildlife rangers have always been a priority for the Iranian Cheetah Society. Therefore, the Ranger Programme was started in 2014 to support the Park rangers across the country. During recent years, the following activities initiated:

1- Annual Yahya award for the most qualified rangers in the country.

2- Purchasing ragers demanded pieces of equipment.

3- Capacity building and skill improving workshops.

These programs are implementing in cooperation with the government's Department of Environment. Iranian Cheetah Society has published a report highlighting the activities undertaken as part of the Warden Programs.

Community-Based Conservation

We are working with local people in different locations of Iran to empower them against the socio-economic consequences of wildlife-related conflict. We are working across the entire range of the Asiatic Cheetahs in Iran, summing a vast area of over 60,000 km2 with a backbone of more than a decade of working experience. With local communities, our conservation education unit implements various public awareness campaigns to increase people's environmental awareness. We have developed novel approaches to spread knowledge among local people, including educational theaters and documentaries, which the Iranian community has highly welcomed both. We also launch workshops and training courses for students and wardens for capacity building proposes.
