ClientEarth is an incredible charity whose work has already changed local, national, and international environmental policies and laws. They have achieved this directly and indirectly; by taking legal actions against governments; through advising on environmental justice and the future; by helping to shape and create new laws which put the earth first; by advocating for the earth (the client), ecosystems, and indigenous communities; through raising awareness around the harm and risks of polluting behaviours; by defending wildlife and habitats; and by holding those in power accountable for their role in climate change on the local and global scale. In 2020 ClientEarth's shareholder lawsuit against Polish energy company Enea forced them to suspend construction of their coal-fired power station and in 2019 they put 100 local authorities in England on notice, that if they did not uphold their obligations to introduce proper climate change plans, legal challenges would be held against them. So, here's me... I've been thinking for a long time about the climate crisis. Virtually every day I wake up and think about what's happening and ask "what can I do?" I just feel so powerless... I'm not a lawyer, an academic, or a scientist, I don't have money, resources, or skills... But...I...do...have...err... hair... a lot of it... and a huge community of supportive friends and family. So... This is what I'm offering - my hair (please don't take my hair) for your support* so we can all do a small something to help ClientEarth with their big work.
