Story
Cancer is something everyone will be affected by in their life and something which has affected members of our group in the recent months. Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. Their help and support through a struggle are invaluable.
As many of you will already know, we are travelling to South Africa to undertake what is regarded as one of the most challenging individual events in the world, an IRONMAN.
Consisting of a 2.4 Mile swim in the shark infested waters surrounding Port Elizabeth, a gruelling 112 Mile cycle through nature reserves and along the coastal road. Followed by a full Marathon through the streets of Port Elizabeth itself. All of this takes place in 25 degree heat in a time limit of 17 hours.
Meet the Team:
Adam Whiteley - The only one of our number to have ever completed a multidiscipline event. Although he was beaten by Andrew Sims.
Tim Broadhurst - 6 stone wet through, and doesn't have to wear an aerodynamic helmet.
Ben Brading - Claims to have been in the army once.
James Gillies - Likely to stop during the event if an interesting bird of prey is en route.
Alex Cook - Internationally renowned Barista.
Steven Broadhurst - The idiot who came up with this adventure.
We have been training for around 6 months, throughout the winter, to even have a shot at completing the whole event. Blood sweat and tears have gone into our preparation and with a month to go we are all feeling the strain.
Please help motivate us, by donating to a hugely worthy cause, and we won't let you down.
