Refugee Week Challenge · 26 March 2018

We welcome and empower all asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants to enable them to rebuild their lives and achieve their potential. Supporting over 3,500 people a year, these include unaccompanied children, destitute families, victims of modern slavery and those escaping conflict zones from around the world. To overcome the challenges our clients face, we offer a range of services which include employment and immigration advice, to therapy, English classes, social groups and much more.

Story

I am going to live off £37 this week which will actually be £17 after I have taken away the cost of bus tickets which are covered by my pre-paid bus pass. This is the amount an asylum seeker in the UK survives off each week. They can't work, they can't save, so they merely get by. I want to raise awareness of this issue and hope I can raise some money to support the brilliant work done by Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre.

Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre was formed in 2000 to support vulnerable refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants within the city. We help these people rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential, supporting their integration into the city’s local communities and encouraging them to contribute fully to the life of Coventry; all while in safety and with dignity. To achieve this, we offer a range of free and impartial advice which includes therapy, English lessons, housing support, employment and legal advice.
