The Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, Cape Town, is one of Africa's first specialist paediatric Hospital. We make sure that Africa's sickest children have the access to high quality healthcare they need. Together we can give the Hospital's children a second chance at childhood.

Story

I am cycling in The Argus cycling race which is a 110km bike ride around Cape Town, which I am hoping to complete in less than 7 hours.

The money that I raise is going towards the children's cancer ward at The Red Cross Hospital. It is a home to remarkable children, who are fearlessly fighting a cruel battle.

Specifically the money is going towards -

  • Increasing the number of isolation rooms for transplant patients who have severely diminished immune systems
  • To give parents and patients better access to more bathrooms
  • To increase the number of consultation rooms for doctors
  • Create critically important space for family counseling
  • Create a new space for clinical research.

I'm sure you can see why I agreed to cycle in The Argus. I know if I can raise enough money and help even just a little bit, it will be worth the gym sessions, wearing lycra and jelly legs.

Thank you so much for your help and support,

Izzy xxx
