I am very excited to be running the London marathon 2018 for Diabetes UK, it is truly an amazing Charity and one that is very important to me. Type 1 Diabetes runs in my family and the chance to be able to raise money and awareness for the charity is something that I am so grateful for.
I shall be running the London Marathon in memory of my uncle Simon who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1980 when he was just 15. I never got to meet my uncle Simon as he died when he was only 20, from complications of the disease, I would have love to have met Simon so it will be an honour for me to run in his memory :)

My brother ,Ben was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 25, six years ago. Watching the way Ben copes with the disease everyday without any fuss is so inspirational and running the marathon for Diabetes UK is my way of showing him how proud I am to be his little sister!

Type 1 Diabetes is a life long disease with no remission, requiring insulin injections several times a day alongside monitoring blood sugar levels. There is no "day off". The health complications for diabetics are numerous as this disease affects nearly every system in the body.

It is essential to have research into this disease, ( with the rapid increase of Type 2 diabetes becoming of epidemic proportions), to help save lives, improve the quality of daily life for diabetics and their overall health during their lifetime. Finding a cure would be wonderful or at least finding a way to make monitoring Insulin and blood sugar levels easier and not so invasive, and lessening the complications from elevated blood sugar, which causes so much damage to the body.   Please support me in raising finds for this worthwhile Charity, it would mean so much to so many." Thank you" :)
