We provide fun-filled activity holidays to change the lives of disabled children

Story

For the past few summers I have volunteered on the Newman Holiday Trust for a week looking after a child. Aged from 5-16, each child who attends these charity holidays has special needs and personal circumstances which mean they would not otherwise have the opportunity to go on holiday. The charity relies on donations and fundraising from volunteers to put on such a great experience for the children each year.

I am very excited to be volunteering on the St Bede's holiday again in August. The week will involve horse riding, a trip to Alton Towers, a cinema visit, a talent show and much more. I have seen how each child on the holiday grows more confident and makes friends throughout week, and how they eagerly await next year's holiday. Here is a video a made from last year's holiday to give a sense of what the week involves:

If anyone would be willing to donate just a fiver each I would be SO grateful - every bit of money raised goes such a long way and makes a huge difference to this small charity.

Thank you!

Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust began by running a one week summer holiday for children with special needs. The Trust now provides holidays for about 130 children with special needs aged four to sixteen each year, in various locations around the UK. Due to the high level of skilled care they require or financial circumstances, the children selected for these breaks would not otherwise receive a holiday. The holidays provide a range of fun activities in a safe and supportive environment and use a care ration of one helper to one child at all times. The Trust is an entirely voluntary organization and owes its success to over 200 people who dedicate their free time to helping these children. This voluntary structure ensures that every penny raised goes directly towards a child's holiday.
