Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you know, I have 3 gorgeous nephews aged 2, 4 and 5. All three have been diagnosed with autism. As the boys live in Cheltenham, I have decided to run the Cheltenham half marathon on 27th September with my husband Chris and also with the boys’ mum and dad, my brother and his wife. We want to support not only my brother and his family, but also raise awareness of autism in the UK. Autism is increasingly a growing issue for thousands of families, like my brother's, with no history or genetic reasoning.
We are running to raise money for the Autism Research Trust. This charity will put all the money that we raise directly into research conducted at the Autism Research Centre (ARC) at Cambridge University. The ARC aims to develop an understanding of the causes of autism and it looks at ways to ensure that people affected by autism receive the best possible help and support. With the money raised they aim to fund cutting edge research that will make a massive difference to the lives of those affected by autism, both now and for future generations.
I’m certainly not much of a runner and have found the training to be a huge challenge! But to have your support and know that we’ve raised money for this cause, so close to our hearts, will help to spur me on over that finish line!
