Belfast Marathon Festival 2017 · 1 May 2017 ·

Each year Friends of the Cancer Centre funds life saving and life changing projects which make a real and positive difference to thousands of cancer patients and their families. The charity relies on donations from the public to be able to support these patients locally and across Northern Ireland.

Story

Hi everyone. As some of you may know, our much loved Granny Ish (Ishbel Hanna) passed away on 8th March this year after a short battle with ovarian cancer.  Granny was cared for at the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital. Friends of the Cancer Centre work there to make patients more comfortable and provide valuable support to their families. Their services helped to make Granny more comfortable and we are very grateful to them for that. In memory of our gran and Keith's mum Janet, our family have decided to do the 8 mile walk as part of the marathon with family members aged from 9 months to 69 years taking part!

We are also hoping to raise money for Marie Curie Hospice. Keith Hooks, the newest member of our family, lost his special mum Janet, in August 2016. She received compassionate care at the Hospice in her final days.
