Tushinde Children's Trust supports vulnerable children in Nairobi's informal settlements. These children have often lost one or both of their parents to HIV & are being brought up by kinship carers. In response, Tushinde runs the Family Support Programme; that nurtures and strengthens families.

Story

Why am I doing this?  I want to help a charity called Tushinde, who work in the Mathare slums in Nairobi, Kenya.  They help over 250 children go to school and find guardians and other support to allow them to get a good education so they can help support their families.

How do I know Tushinde?  When I was 5, my family went to visit Tushinde and went to the orphanage and school they support.  We were visiting friends - including the founder of Tushinde and I got to meet some of the children and we brought over various supplies for them.  Since then we keep in touch with our friends and have regular updates, which makes it quite personal and I would like to find a way to help.

What am I doing: I am planning a sponsored swimathon at school.  I have done a lot of swimming at my school and local clubs, it is something I enjoy.  I am going to see how many lengths I can swim in an hour- with my target being to get over 100 lengths.

Please sponsor me to help me reach my target of £600.  It will help them support a number of children for a year...or could be used to pay for books, blackboards or pay for a social worker, or to help a person start a business so they no longer need Tushinde's help.

Thank you very much.
