Story
Dear family, friends and kind-hearted people,
Exciting news... I have been selected to take part in International Citizen Service (ICS)! ICS is a UK government funded scheme that sends young people to volunteer abroad to make a difference in the world. In January 2015 I will be volunteering with International Service, an United Nations Associate charity and partner organisation to ICS, in Burkina Faso, West Africa for 3 months. I will be volunteering within a trained team of British and Burkinabe volunteers.
To raise awareness I am fundraising for International Service. International Service is active in 6 countries - Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Bolivia, Brazil and Palestine. They work to protect the human rights of women, children and those with disabilities. My fundraising efforts will include a table sale and a personal Live Below The Line challenge (living on £1 a day). Please donate through this page to support me!
You can keep up with my antics on my blog "Hope and Ramble". I'll be updating it with my fundraising progress and from January onwards about life in Burkina Faso! Visit it here - http://hopeandramble.blogspot.co.uk/
Also please check out the International Service website here - http://www.internationalservice.org.uk/
All funds raised do not go to the cost of my training, placement, flights, visa etc as this is all covered by ICS. Donations will go to International Service and allowing them to continue their vital international development work in the communities that need it most.
All donations are gratefully received and you will be added to my mental list of angels on earth! More importantly, you will be helping to protect the human rights of people whose circumstances are less fortunate than our own. Friends and family that know me personally will know that this is a cause very dear to my own heart.
Lots of love, Ivana :)
