Story

THE CHARITY - PRIORS COURT
WE are aware that we have so many opportunities ahead of us after school. This is not the case for Ivo’s brother Orlando (19) and other severely autistic young people with challenging behaviour like him. Orlando lives with other young adults at Priors Court  (https://www.priorscourt.org.uk) and his life is very different. Many residents at Priors Court cannot communicate, understand the world around them, safely go out in the community, and need to learn independence skills from scratch. A supported internship or job is a very distant dream.

Priors Court gives them real opportunities to learn to participate in life after school. To do this a high level of professional support and unique facilities are needed to help severely autistic young people  Fundraising is constant.

THE CHALLENGE - “The world’s toughest kayak race"
Having never kayaked before before we set ourselves the marathon task of kayaking 125 miles from Devizes to Westminster over Easter weekend.  We have spent a lot of time IN The Thames rather than ON The Thames  throughout this endless winter. Our personal best so far has been training in the dark, during a snowstorm  with a wind chill factor of minus 8.  We have kayaked through ice on the canal and run with our kayak when the water has been frozen solid.

THE BIG ASK
It is an awesome undertaking but  we are totally committed to achieving our goal and arriving at Westminster Bridge on Monday 2 April - World Autism Day.

PLEASE  SPONSOR US TO HELP YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SEVERE AUTISM TO LEARN THE SKILLS TO BE ABLE TO LIVE MEANINGFUL LIVES

Thank you.  Ivo Pope and Hugo Parker
