Cambodia 2018

VSO ICS** · 31 January 2020 to 31 December 2020 ·
Hello,
First of all, thank you for visiting my page! My name is Izzy and I am really excited to tell you that this page was created because one of my biggest dreams becomes real
I'm going for a placement to Cambodia from October 2018!
In order to complete my 10-weeks placement, I am fundraising £800 for the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) who organises the placement in Cambodia and many many other countries. Check them out on: https://www.volunteerics.org/vso-ics
The money I fundraise is going to support people in developing countries in multiple ways, but also allow people like myself to go and work further on a variety of projects.
I'm extremely excited to leave a footprint and actively start tofight world poverty. The fantastic fact is, that you can also make a change with me! I need you, and even the smallest possible donation from you will make it happen!
The project that we are going to work on mostly involves young people in Cambodia and spreading awareness of career pathways, business development and services available through the National Employment Agency, supporting them to develop soft skills training curriculum, pre-employment preparation and career guidance in schools.
We aim to, through the series of actions, such as research, awareness raising, training, peer education and resource development, to mitigate disadvantageous for the region migration, get young people involved, create opportunities, educate and, as a direct result, finish the project with the outcome in which the region benefits from the wealth created internally.
I have heard opinions in the past that some people don't believe in 'pumping' money into developing countries, as it only creates higher demand. I personally agree that simply giving people money is not a solution. The strong advantage of VSO is that instead of mindlessly distributing money - which I think is a misconception about charity organisations in general- they allow both, people in disadvantaged communities and volunteers from the UK to learn new skills, fight poverty by creating enterprise opportunities that are a long-term solution, to educate each other about our cultures and together make this world a little bit better and fairer place to live.
Thank you very much for your donations!
Loads of love,
Izzy
