Izzy's Fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust

Izzy Docherty is raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust

Izzy's Fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust · 3 April 2016

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Update

Over £72,000 raised in Izzy’s name

Thank you to everyone for their support on this page and elsewhere.  We had decided that the right time to close this page was on the second anniversary of Izzy’s death on the 25th June. However further donations have been made and we have kept it open for the time being.

A fantastic amount of money has been raised in Izzy’s name and we know the difference that this money will make and how proud Izzy would have been.

This is how she wanted to be remembered:

“I want to be remembered as I was when I was healthy, and full of life.  Please take the positive memories of me and remember them - I would never want any of you to get upset over this, I want you to be happy and live your lives.

Speaking of such, cancer has taught me to treasure every minute. You don't need me to tell you that life can be short, so try and find a moment to treasure every day, not for me but for you. It's okay for life to be short if you fill it with good times.

Love Izzy”

We will treasure our memories of her for ever and are slowly starting to be able to remember her with a smile not a tear.

Update - Izzy's original words are at the bottom of the page - over £69,000 raised in Izzy’s name

We have been completely bowled over by people’s generosity.  We wanted to update everyone, not only about the total here of an amazing £31,500, but also about the brilliant efforts of Izzy’s friends and school which have resulted in a further £37,500 being raised in Izzy’s name.

A grand total of over £69,000 has been raised so far, of which £62,000 has gone to TCT, £6,000 to the Little Princess Trust and £1,000 to MacMillan.

To mention a couple of things: Izzy’s friends organised a TCT Ball at School recently that raised an amazing £14,000, her Housemaster is prepared to throw himself out of a plane for £7,000 and today the CCF ran in the Berkhamsted Fun Run raising over £2,000.

Thank you all for your support, we know the difference that this money will make and how proud Izzy would have been.

I was diagnosed with cancer in October 2015, and have been supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust ever since. It makes such a difference in what is a horrible time in anyones life to have that support, and to be able to connect with teenagers of a similar age who are going through the same thing.

7 young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and the Teenage Cancer Trust works to help support as many of these people as they can. Only with your help can this support continue and reach more teenagers.

Many people, both those I know and those I do not, have asked me if they can contribute to the TCT after reading my blog. Because of this, I have created this page so that people can make donations, however small, to support TCT's fabulous work.
