Story

On 3rd June 2016, the Warburg Family will be cycling from London to Aldeburgh (around 120 miles) with a group of friends to raise awareness of depression and to remember an amazingly special friend, Boo Van Der Noot.

CHARLIE – On 29th July 2015, the world lost a great person. Boo, on the outside was the happiest, loveliest, bubbliest person but inside she was bravely fighting against the most horrible illness - depression. Depression is something that we all need to discuss
openly and raise awareness for. Talking about it and showing understanding for it, will help other people who have it or are affected by it, more likely to recognise the symptoms
. Depression is not TaBOO and needs to be talked about openly as we do with many other illnesses.

IZZY - Boo was a dear friend to many of us. She had the amazing ability to light up any room she walked into and had an amazing warmth about her.  This is why her taking her own life would have come as a total shock to so many. She was always willing to go the extra mile to help her family & friends, and never failed to smile even when she was fighting such an awful disease. Training is going well...... ish.

BILL - As a sufferer of depression myself during a particularly stressful period of my life, which was luckily controlled with help from the medical profession, and great support from family and friends, I am very aware of the devastating (and worse) effect that this disease can have on people’s lives.  As such, anything that can be done to raise awareness, knowledge and openness of this terrible disease must be good. Many of you will be wondering how an overweight, unfit, untrained old man can possible ride this ridiculous distance. I am as well?? But to reassure you, I will make it (or pay the price financially).

As a group we will be raising funds for The Charlie Waller Memorial Trust whose vision is "of a world where people understand and talk openly about depression, where young people know how to maintain well-being, and where the most appropriate treatment is available to everyone who needs it". We want to encourage people that Depression is not A TaBOO and to remember a very special person.
