Story
Welcome to my JustGiving page.
At the end of September I will be leaving London to work with the charity Raleigh in Nicaragua for 3 months. Throughout this period i will be assigned to a project that helps to establish local grass-roots entrepreneurial projects. This project is great because - unlike your typical gratuitous 'voluntourism' (see humanitariansoftinder.com) - it is a charity model that will have a sustainable, long-lasting impact on local communities. As the truism goes: 'give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime'.
To support such a great cause I have nominated to donate £800 to Raleigh international. To raise this money I will cycle to Birmingham from London in 24hrs sometime in early september. Whilst this is probably the least practical way to take my bike back to my parent's home, I hope you will all find it impressive enough a challenge to reach into your pockets and contribute to the grand total.
Please note that your generous donations DO NOT go directly to pay for my placement, flights, visas, vaccinations, accommodation, sustenance etc... all these costs have already been covered. Instead, your money will form part of a voluntary donation to help sustain a brilliant charity doing brilliant work.
Thank you for reading this far and for every last penny you can manage.
Gracias,
James
