LATCH supports families affected by childhood cancer get the help and care they need, and never face the journey alone. We are here for hundreds of children each year across Wales, providing them and their families bespoke emotional support, information, practical and financial help. .

Story

LATCH is a charity that supports the children who are receiving treatment for cancer at the Children's Hospital for Wales and their Family.  LATCH has been announced as the Charity of Choice 2015 for DVLA.  This means that LATCH will be the charity that the agency will corporately promote and support through fundraising throughout 2015.

As staff at DVLA, myself and Stephen try vigorously each year to participate in an event as grueling as possible in the aid to raise as much money as possible for charity.  In the past 2 years alone we have successfully raised £3500+ participating in events such as a 14 hour continuous cycle (cycling on a spinning machine from midnight until 2pm the following day), a continuous 36 mile triathlon (12 mile run followed by 6 mile row followed by 18 miles of cycling.

Neither of us have ever participated in a 'Marathon' so we took this opportunity to raise money for LATCH to do so but using our surroundings.  The run itself will be a grueling few hours in which we will hit slight hills and have to climb steps along the way, it is something we are both embracing as both of us like pushing each other to our limits.  The children we are helping suffer everyday, if it means we suffer for just one day to raise as much as possible for these children then so be it, we are capable so it's our turn to suffer in aid of them so please support us in any way you can and donate as much as you can, every penny counts.

We are both already working extremely hard already towards getting our fitness levels up to be able to comfortably complete this, I will update you as and when with photos and status updates as to how our training is going.  Already we have begun running long distances, boxing, boxercise classes, anything to build up our stamina and strength.

Cancer charities are something very close to mine and Stephen's hearts, I believe this applies to all of you out there too so help us raise as much as possible to help these brave children and their families.

So please please please help us in anyway possible, whether that be a small donation or just a good luck message...every little helps!

Thank you :)
