Our beautiful daughter Emma Died from Breast Cancer at the age of just 37, she was diagnosed at the age of 32 and spent the next 5 years undergoing treatment. During those 5 years she should have been moving forward in her life, having children perhaps, enjoying her career, all the things that a young woman should expect, but for Emma this was not to be. Despite all this she was always gentle, cheerful, positive, stylish (she had an impressive collection of scarves having lost her hair on more than one occasion) and was rarely without a smile, she really perfected the art of living with an uncertain future, she was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She died at the Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester on 28th May 2012. The treatment and care she was given at the hospice was outstanding, Jim and I and Emma's husband Toby will be forever grateful to Weldmar who made an impossibly sad time bearable.

So for this reason we have decided to take part in the Nepal Trek and Hospice project in October 2018 to raise money for Weldmar. We will be trekking for 5 days which will mean very basic conditions and high altitude, neither of us have experienced high altitude before so we are just hoping we will be okay! We will also be spending a few days volunteering in a hospice in Kathmandu, this is something we are both looking forward to as we'll be helping people who are going through similar experiences as ourselves and Emma but in very different circumstances.

We are aiming to raise £7000 which seems very daunting at the moment. We are paying all our own expenses so every penny you donate will go to Weldmar Hospicecare Trust which will help them continue to provide specialist palliative care to others like Emma.
