I am running the Norwich 10k in memory of my two friends; Tom Lukey and Liam Brading. Both Tom and Liam never showed any symptoms of depression and it came as a shock to myself and everyone who knew them that they decided to end their own lives. In running the Norwich 10k I intend to raise money for Mind to ensure everyone that suffers from mental health problems gets the support they need. Depression is a disease and communicating when you're feeling low is greatly important. Many people feel embarrassed to talk about their mental health and in raising money for Mind I intend to put an end to this stigma.

I am completing Run Norwich for the 4th time this year with the aim to raise funds for Mind and also awareness of mental health and its importance. Mental health charities have played a massive part in my life to date as I personally have suffered from anxiety from a young age. In February 2019 I unfortunately was given the sad news my step father had tragically lost his life in an accident on holiday. As well as this there were a number of other events playing out at the same time. This had a crumbling affect on my mental health and led to me falling into severe depression. Having worked with my doctor and the mental health support services I was able to regain my confidence to carry on and take every day one step at a time. To this day I will stand by the support that was given to me, to take me out of the darkest times and want to see more support given to everyone from the smallest thing to the largest. Everything and everyone matters.

The reason why I have decided to raise money for Mind is to raise awareness of mental health. With all of your support taking part in all the various activities planned and sponsoring us for the Norwich 10k the greater impact we can make. All money raised will provide support for those in need. Thousands of people rely on the local and national services Mind provide, whilst many more do not receive the support they require to stay well. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in any given year so it is important there is help and support available to everyone affected.
