Many of us know someone who has been affected by stroke. Personally, I've seen the effects that stroke can have on family, friends, and colleagues too often:
1. first, it was my grandma (we called her "Farmor", true to her Swedish heritage), who was left paralysed on the right side of her body in the early 1990's, and was unable to pick up her grandchildren to play.
2. next, it was a much beloved colleague who suffered one during a business trip to the US and had to be medically evacuated back to London for some of the best treatment in the world, and managed to recover with nearly full functionality.
3. third, was the gentleman that I provided long term illness cover for in another job, who, though I had never met, am told was a very kind man, that, nearly a year on, hasn't yet managed to return to his previously normal life.
I have seen the devastating effects that Stroke can have on families, friends, and coworkers, and therefore encourage you to consider making a donation to the Stroke Association so that they can continue their mission to conquer stroke by:
- funding lifesaving research and discover new treatment options,
- providing support services and information to all those affected by stroke
- launching strategic campaigns that increase awareness of the signs of a stroke and the importance of taking emergency action.
In return, you'll get to see me wipe out on the 10k Rough Runner obstacle course challenge in Clapham Common on 16 Sep 2017!
