We support young people to follow their dreams and ambitions

Story

As part of the Junior Leaders course I am partaking in, each student must plan, organise and run a charity event for the John Thornton's Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF).

The Air Cadet's Junior Leaders course is the most rewarding course which is ran by the Air Cadets. It is a course which teaches young men and women vital leadership skills that will help them to be the best that they can be in either military or civilian life.

JTYAF also has a similar aim to Junior Leaders, in that it provides young people with opportunities to help them to achieve, be the best that they can be and 'climb as high as they can dream'. JTYAF was set up in the name and memory of John Thornton who was also a member and a graduate on the JL course and was named top student. He went on to realise his childhood dream of becoming an officer in the Royal Marines and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2007 before tragically being killed two weeks away from his return home. JTYAF was set up by his parents as one of his last wishes.

Therefore, myself and other people on the JL course will be completing our own organised events in support of JTYAF just as memebers of the course do every year.
