Story
Hello!
I am running the London marathon in memory of my aunty Kath who lost her two and a half year battle with breast cancer in 2009; she had spent her last few days at the Hospice where the nursing staff did a wonderful job of making her as comfortable as possible. At the time I was too young to even contemplate completing anything on the scale of a marathon; today its one of my life ambitions and to run my first for something so close to my family would be a treasure!
Severn Hospice gives specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire and North Powys who are living with an incurable illness.
They support families through the good days and bad days because they believe that when cure is no longer possible, care is. Since 1989, they have given free care and support to more than 25,000 patients and their loved ones during their time of greatest need, now helping more than 2,800 local people every year.
The hospice is part of a health services offered to people living in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales but is not part of the NHS - a completely independent charity, having to raise around two-thirds of their running costs.
All of the care provided to the thousands of people every year is only possible thanks to the generous support from local communities,so donations are crucial for the hospice to continue being a success!
I feel the London Marathon is a fantastic opportunity for me to really say thank you to the hospice by raising as much money as i can, so it can continue providing and improving what it gives to patients and their families - so any donation would be absolutely amazing and again, cheers!
