Jack's Jeans for Genes

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello, I am Jack's mum. Jack is 8 and is currently going through the assessment process for the autistic spectrum and sensory impairments. We have known from a very young age that Jack has certain character traits that are slightly different to other children his age. He has very fixed interests almost to the point of obsession-at 18 months it was clocks, it was one of his first words! At the moment, Jack is football mad!
Throughout his life so far, Jack has had many challenges to face and has sadly been the subject of bullying at school. We have had our own fair share of challenges too, and it has been a long and frustrating struggle to finally get Jack assessed so he can get the support he needs and deserves. More recently, Jack has become selectively mute in school, which has been the catalyst for the referral to CAMHS and his assessment. He struggles with change, he has very little sense of danger and struggles particularly with empathising with others-and this is the reason I have set up this page.
You can imagine how excited I was this morning when Jack said he had been asked to take 50 pence into school to raise money for the Jeans for Genes campaign, but he wanted to raise more!! This is such a huge step forward for Jack, showing an awareness of others-which any parent would feel incredibly proud of-but for us, this is nothing short of amazing and I wanted to show Jack that acts of compassion and empathy are their own reward-and I hope he will be so proud of the money he raises for this incredible charity it will give him the confidence to speak up at school and tell his friends of his achievements.
So please, even if its just a penny-even if its just a share on Facebook, twitter-help me show my beautiful, intelligent and unique little boy that when he puts his mind to it, he can achieve anything. Thank you so much for reading.
