Hello people. If you know me, you'll be aware that I tend to act on things I feel strongly about, regardless of the consequences. I have decided to take part in the 5km Edinburgh Marathon. The benefits of this, I feel, far exceed the negatives; not only will this project help with my physical and mental rehabilitation, it will also raise money to help fund an under-resourced charity.
In 2015, I was hit by a car and ended up in a coma. As a result, I am currently unable to walk and I have sustained a serious head injury. My life has changed drastically from what it was and I am having to relearn how to do simplistic and childlike tasks again. Because of the brain injury I have suffered, my short-term memory is exceptionally poor and my concentration is essentially non-existent. It's taking an infuriatingly long time, but I am getting stronger every day. I still have my entire life in front of me and yet for some people, they are left with nothing. Charities like Headway support injuries like mine and help people to get back on with what will now be their lives.
