Story
I am helping to raise funds towards the purchase of a new piece of equipment for the Epilepsy unit at the Leeds General Infirmary. This follows on the back of the huge funds raised in aid of the Lee's Smile Charity. www.leessmile.com
The event- www.londonedinburghlondon.com is 1400 km long and we have targeted 100 hours to complete it commencing on Sunday July 30th and finishing Thursday 3rd August afternoon. It is an organised event with 1500 taking part from 58 countries around the world.
My aim is to raise £1 for every kilometre that I ride...hopefully all 1400!
It is the biggest physical challenge I have ever undertaken but is nothing compared to the challenges many face day to day with medical conditions such as Epilepsy. The Unit at the LGI treat many children and adults every day, helping to diagnose their condition which ultimately can have a massive impact on their health and wellbeing.
The piece of equipment will enable the Doctors to diagnose different types of epilepsy using telemetry inside the brain. This will be a radical step forward for the Unit but more importantly the patients who will benefit.
I'll try to update my page over the coming weeks as I build to the event.
