Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to sign up to this event for two reasons; one as a personal challenge and secondly (and more importantly), to raise money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People. I signed up to this event back in January when I was fighting fit and raring to go, since then I have injured my knee and my new year's resolution of competing in a half marathon seems very far away. By completing this 10km, this will be a personal challenge (knee dependent!) and now I am even more determined to get to the finish line with the recent passing of my nan, for whom I was running this event for as she had been totally blind for the last few years. I cannot imagine the loneliness she felt by having her sight taken away from her at such a late stage in life and if I can raise as much money as possible for the RNIB who help people such as my nan, then I will feel proud and more importantly, I know she will be too.
