Story

Hi Guys

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

What am I up to. Well, no more Moonwalks for me for a while a little operation on my knee before that can happen again. Last year I went back packing in California. Thats me in the photo I have just rode over the Golden Gate Bridge. So when my brother asked if I wanted to go on a little trip to Europe to celebrate his 50th I said count me in without asking the details.

So that is how I found myself a member of his team in The Scumrun Rally. the only official event that takes you across Europe over four days. The prime objective is to raise money for much needed national children's charities.

In a car worth less than £500 you board the ferry at Portsmouth. From that point you have no idea where you are going. Each morning you are given a location you must arrive at by the evening.  You travel up to 3000 miles in the 4 days.

This is the 5th year and they have chosen Clic Sargent as their charity this year. What do they do ????

Most children get coughs or colds, flu or viruses. But imagine being told: “it’s cancer”. Every day in the UK, 10 families hear this news.

Treatment often starts straightaway. It lasts up to three years. Normal family life stops and the only thing that matters is your child.

Clic Sargent are the only charity offering children all round clinical, practical and emotional support. Today they can only help two out of three families who need then. It’s a journey that tests families physically, emotionally, socially and financially.

To be told that a child has cancer comes as a terrible shock. Yet to know that seven out of 10 children now survive cancer may offer some kind of comfort and reassurance to families.

The Clic  Child Cancer Helpline is a free, anonymous and confidential telephone service. There  trained helpline staff offer emotional support and practical information to anyone affected by childhood ,they also provide social workers, play specialist, financal support  to name but a few of the good things they do to support the child and familes.

Thanks to research into treatment and causes, the outlook is now one of hope, forward thinking and positive outcomes.

But all this come at a cost that is why I ask give as little or as much as you can. Every donation matters.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you so much in advance. XXXXXX Jackie & The Gang
