At the end of May Martin and I will begin the 1000 mile cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats. He is an IronMan triathlete and I am his budding prodigy. I have never cycled more than 50 miles so the challenge is to try to finish in 9 days, and not to lag too far behind!
I will be fundraising for St Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough. They have spent 30 years providing specialist care to adults with life-limiting illnesses. They aim to enhance each person’s quality of life and provide dignity in death. I volunteered for St Catherine's during my gap year and it changed my view of Hospice's; I now have a completely different perspective on the end of life. Despite many of the patients being in the last moments of their life, the atmosphere was relaxed and happiness filled every corridor. I would like to give something back to the place that gave me the best experience of my life to date.
I would like to raise at least a pound for every mile I cycle, so please be generous and give what you can. You never know, we might even have to turn around and cycle back to Land's End!
